Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology FAQ - Brondell

Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+â„¢ Technology FAQ

Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology Filters

The Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology is equipped with three filters (part of its five layers of AG+ protection). What are their functions, maintenance needs and life span?

Suggested use is 8-12 months depending on conditions and it’s recommended to replace the filter set at least once a year for optimal performance.

1. High-Efficiency H12 HEPA Grade Air Filter: ≥99.7% filtration efficiency for PM0.3 and smaller. Under normal usage, it can be used for one year before it needs to be replaced.

2. Pre-filter: Captures hair, fiber, large particles, dander, etc. and helps protect and keep the HEPA filter active to combat viruses and bacteria. Under normal usage, it can be used for one year before it needs to be replaced.

3. Nanocrystalline Filter: Natural non-metallic minerals are used to remove harmful gases, formaldehyde, benzene, VOC (volatile organic compounds), and odor from the air. Under normal usage, it can be used for one year before it needs to be replaced.

The full set (pre-filter, H12 HEPA grade filter, and Nanocrystalline) come in a single set and should be replaced at least annually to maintain performance. But in areas of high use or where there may be a higher degree of airborne pollutants they may need to be replaced more quickly.

Why does the Brondell Pro with AG+ use an H12 Grade HEPA filter instead of the higher grade H13 or medical grade H14 HEPA filter? Won’t the filtering function be poor as compared to some other products?

We specifically chose the H12 Grade HEPA filter for its unique ability to circulate the most air possible (air efficiency), which makes the machine more effective at its job.

  • The filtration efficiency of the H13 HEPA filter is 99.95%, and the filtration efficiency of the H12 HEPA Grade filter used in the Brondell Pro is 99.7%, so the difference between the two is less than 0.3%, but we achieve a much higher efficiency (up to 15%) for overall air flow, which allows us to maximize efficiencies in the system.

Many air purifiers have filters that can be washed and reused. How can the different filters used in the Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology be cleaned? If they cannot be washed, will they be less effective?

Filters that can be washed with water are usually only low/medium grade filters. These low/medium filters by definition do not have strong filtration efficiency, especially in filtering nano-scale viruses. In contrast, the filters used in infectious wards, isolation wards, operating rooms, etc. are not washable filters.

How much do replacement filters cost? Where can I buy replacement filters?

  • A set of Pre-filter, high-efficiency H12 HEPA Grade filter, and Nanocrystalline filter are included in the air purifier. Suggested retail for the three-piece replacement is $149.99 per set.
  • Pro AG+ Filter Replacement Pack can be purchased directly from Brondell.com and participating retailers

What is the “shelf life” for the filters when new and unopened?

  • The filters will last a minimum of 5 years, as long as they are sealed in the plastic bag package.
