The bathroom is the most private room to retreat to in any home, and homeowners are allocating remodel budgets to prove it.  One of the hottest trends currently is the spa bathroom.  Remodel projects are sacrificing spare closets, and in some cases spare bedrooms, to the spa bathroom.  Many of these projects are making the soaking tub a centerpiece by literally placing a freestanding tub in the center of the room.  The color palette of choice by most designers across the country has consistently been green this year adding to the Zen feel of the spa bathroom.  Multiple showerheads, body sprays and of course steam showers are still a staple of the at home spa experience. For those on a budget, easy add-ons to any bathroom remodel to help create a spa bathroom are vessel sinks, heated towel racks and bidet toilet seats.  All three of these items add a WOW factor without creating a construction nightmare or breaking the bank.

Larger spa trending bathroom upgrades that take a bit more construction and financial commitment are heated floors, floating vanities and lots of light with completely reworked lighting plans, LED mood lighting and punching in new windows and skylights for more natural light.  The number one trend in the more expensive category seems to be bathroom furniture to hide away clutter and create a space where one can retreat to after a long hard day at work.
